There are currently no upcoming public auctions at Schuler Auktionen listed.
Philippe Schuler grew up in Egypt and attended elementary school and high school in Switzerland. Soon after completing his studies, the lawyer noticed during an internship that this field of work did not appeal to him. So he is looking for a new job. He found his calling at Edgar Mannheimer's "Uto Auctions", where he worked from 1975 to 1977 as an all-rounder. Philippe Schuler then switched to Koller-Tiefenbrunnen, where he learned the trade of auctioneer from scratch. In 1979 he was entrusted by Pierre Koller with setting up a branch in St. Gallen, which he ran until it was closed. The young man is now without a job, but with a wealth of experience.
That's why Philippe Schuler decided in 1984 to make his dream of owning his own auction house come true. Together with two employees, he opens the "Philippe Schuler Auctions AG" at Seestrasse 341 in Zurich-Wollishofen. The auctioneer has remained true to the business philosophy that he shaped for himself back then: "Every piece has its value and deserves to be treated with care". The first auctions already show that the young auction house's wide range of offers is met with great interest. Furniture, furnishings, handicrafts and jewelery find buyers alongside paintings, Helvetica and books.
The Zurich company, which will soon be active throughout German-speaking Switzerland, is expanding its activities into French-speaking Switzerland with a representative in Geneva. In addition, expert days in Basel, Lucerne and Ticino make it easier for those from these regions who are willing to sell to submit their works of art and pictures. In the meantime, the house with its comprehensive range of services has become an integral part of the Swiss auction landscape. Schuler Auctions owes its good reputation to the tireless entrepreneurial spirit of Philippe Schuler, the 25 competent experts and - and this is probably the best reward - the word-of-mouth propaganda of satisfied customers.
You will find detailed information on the company's history as well as a selection of interesting highlights from all the subject areas managed by Schuler Auctions in our anniversary publication, which was published in November 2009.
