Stockholm's Auktionsverk was founded in 1674, on the initiative of baron Claes Rålamb, then governor of Stockholm. We are the world's oldest still operating auction house. We have sold eras such as Baroque, Rococo and Gustavian when these were contemporary. Among our many noted customers through the centuries can be mentioned Karl XI, Gustav III, Carl Michael Bellman, August Strindberg and Selma Lagerlöf. Stockholms Auktionsverk is today one of the leading Nordic marketplaces for art, crafts and older and more modern antiques. Our operations in Stockholm are run from three premises — Nybrogatan 32 in Östermalm, where our large quality and special auctions are held, as well as in Magasin 5 in Frihamnen and Slakthusgatan 22 at Globen where we run our online auctions. Stockholms Auktionsverk also has branches in Gothenburg, Malmö, Helsingborg, Helsinki, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne. Internationally, Stockholms Auktionsverk is represented in London, Paris, New York, Brussels, Hamburg and Geneva.
