James Adam and Sons Ltd, trades as Adam’s, a household name in Ireland, and one synonymous with fine art and antiques for well over a century. Founded in Dublin in 1887, Adam’s is widely regarded as Ireland’s leading Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers. The firm has had a continuous presence on St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin’s city centre for over one hundred and thirty years.
Since 1887 Adam’s have developed expertise in a wide variety of fields and we currently offer a number of specialist auctions, ranging from Important Irish Art, Fine Period Furniture and Decorative Arts including Asian Art, Mid Century Modern Design and Contemporary Art, Fine Jewellery and Watches, Silver and Objects of Vertu, Historical Memorabilia as well as Vintage Wine and Spirits.
Adam’s Valuation Department is proficient in the appraisal, for various purposes, of whole collections as well as single items and with this experience and respect we are regularly instructed by institutions of State, national cultural institutions, universities, financial and other major corporate bodies and major private collectors to advise on, and prepare valuations of their collections. Valuations of domestic contents for insurance, probate and family division are also within our remit and are undertaken at very competitive rates.
Adam’s has the largest staff of academically and professionally qualified personnel of any Irish auction house ensuring our capacity to handle auction sales in the most appropriate and professional manner. We are a highly ethical firm, subscribing to the RICS/SCSI code of ethical standards in addition to the standards laid down by the Property Services Regulatory Authority. The firm’s commitment to international best standards and continuing professional development for all our specialists is borne out by the professional memberships and relevant degrees held by our staff.
Adam’s is proud of it’s honest reputation, something that we jealously guard and we are also proud of the fact that we act exclusively as agents for third parties only, owning none of the lots we offer for sale.
Today, one hundred and thirty five years after James Adam founded the firm, we can say that we are one of the fastest growing companies in this field, offering a service of distinction as Ireland’s principal auction house.
