Born in Belgium in 1949, Jan Vermeiren began his formal art training while still in school. He subsequently studied art full time at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp where he attained a degree in Graphic Art in 1974. Vermeiren moved to South Africa in the late 1970s. From 1981 to 1987, he was a lecturer at the Technical College for Advanced Education in Cape Town where he joined an artist gr
